Program Summary
This one-day advanced seminar is focused on community-based behavioral health care organizations; facility-based behavioral health care organizations; agencies providing services to children, youth and their families; community mental health centers; addictions treatment providers; and Opioid Treatment Programs. The seminar will feature first hand experiences from a leader of a Joint Commission-accredited organization and provides practical information and examples for improving the safety and quality of services. Responding to participants’ requests and feedback, the seminar content will focus on practical standards compliance tips, such as establishing successful service contracts, planning for emergencies, and conducting hand-off communication and medication reconciliation. Attendees will also have an opportunity to hear proposed updates for 2009 and beyond.
Objectives
- Explain the applicability of the revised elements of performance for contracted services under Standard LD.3.50
- Adapt and apply the National Patient Safety Goals implementation strategies discussed during the session within their organization
- Evaluate the practical tips for meeting the credentialing and assignment of clinical responsibilities requirements for their applicability within their organization
- Explain how to apply the principles of infection control within their unique behavioral health care setting
- Summarize accreditation operation updates
- Discuss the plans for 2009 and beyond
