Free Audio Conference--Assessing Organizational Capacity for Change (OCC) in the U.S. Healthcare Industry

This audio discusses the concept of organizational capacity for change and its importance to healthcare safety.  It is a part of an initiative between JCR and Dr. William Judge of Old Dominion University to assess OCC in U.S. hospitals.  All hospitals are invited to participate in this project without cost or obligation (other than completing the survey as described).  You need not have been on the October 12 audio conference to participate.

The participation form describes the project in more detail. Please sign and return the agreement as described at the bottom of the form (preferably via FAX to 630-268-2967 ).  We will then send you a unique code number and a link to the web-based OCC survey.  Additional instructions for distributing the survey link in your hospital will be provided at that time.

Once all participating hospitals have completed the survey and the results tabulated we will provide your hospital with a report on your scores with benchmarks from other hospitals.  A narrative report describing the scales and guidance for action planning are included.  Again, there is no fee for this report and no obligation.  The OCC project is specifically focused on hospitals, however other health care organizations may complete the survey, as well as hospitals of any size (small hospitals are not expected to obtain the suggested number of subjects and should just obtain as many as practical).  Data from non-hospital settings will not be included in the comparative database, and non-hospital organizations will need to exercise caution when interpreting comparative results.

The signed letter must be returned by October 31, 2007 to allow sufficient time for your staff's completion of the survey by November 21st, at which time the survey will be closed to all participating organizations.

If you have additional questions about the project, or you would like to learn more about the Patient Safety Connections service, please send an email to consulting@jcrinc.com  and indicate "Question about OCC Project" or "Patient Safety Connections" as the subject line.

Thank you
