Pressure ulcers continue to be problematic in health care, as demonstrated by the fact that the incidence of pressure ulcers for long term care can reach 23.9%, depending on the setting. Estimates are that 1.3 to 3 million adults have a pressure ulcer. Moreover, the cost of treatment is $500 to $40,000 per ulcer. Because of the importance of trying to prevent pressure ulcers, we’ve developed this program. Specifically, we’ll discuss the following topics:

- Strategies for preventing pressure ulcers to reduce their incidence
