Karen M. Caywood, RN, MBA

Ms. Caywood has extensive experience in health care leadership and clinical nursing roles in both acute care and long term acute care hospitals. She joined The Joint Commission in 2005 and fulfilled the role of surveyor for the Hospital Accreditation program. In 2006, Ms. Caywood assumed the role as a Joint Commission Resources Continuous Service Readiness consultant for healthcare organizations located in Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.
Immediately prior to joining The Joint Commission, Ms. Caywood served as Chief Executive Officer of a long term acute care hospital (LTACH) in Ohio. She has held numerous leadership positions in the acute care hospital environment. Her clinical background includes many years of experience in critical care and emergency services. She has also had experience with administration of federal government healthcare grants.
Ms. Caywood earned a bachelor of arts degree in Healthcare Administration & Management from Graceland University and a Master’s in Business Administration degree from Malone College.
