Luana Haskell has enjoyed a
successful health care career in management, surveying and consultation.
Currently, she is the Regional Consultant for the CSR Program serving Arizona,
New Mexico, and west Texas. In this capacity, she provides consultation and
educational programs to CSR member organizations in hospital, long term care,
ambulatory care, behavioral health and home care. As a former Joint Commission
surveyor, Ms. Haskell was trained to survey in the following capacities: home
health, hospice deemed status and hospital integrated surveys.
Ms Haskell’s clinical practice began as a Navy nurse at
Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego. Subsequently, she fulfilled management
positions on medical/surgical and emergency room units. Over the span of her
career in home health, Ms Haskell was the founder of a successful home health
agency and specialized in the turnaround, consolidation, diversification and
expansion of other large home health organizations. In addition, Ms Haskell
provided long term care regulatory compliance services to nursing homes for a
large hospital system.
Prior to joining the Joint Commission, Ms Haskell worked for
the State Department of Health Services (DHS) in Indiana and Arizona providing
consultation to community organizations in the development of maternal/child
health and home health agencies. While at DHS in Arizona, she also conducted
surveys as a Medicare surveyor.
In addition, she has provided private consultation and
educational programs to health care organizations, attorneys and educational
companies. Ms. Haskell has worked as a content expert for a national education
company, the Arizona Hospital Association and a content reviewer for Joint
Commission Resources. She has served as faculty for Joint Commission Resources.
Throughout her career she has written financial recovery, business and strategic
plans for hospital, home health and case management organizations. Luana has
worked with attorneys and health care organizations as an expert witness.
Luana obtained a BSN from the University of Pittsburgh and an
MSN from Indiana University.
Ms. Haskell has been a representative on the Governor’s
Council for AIDS/HIV in New Mexico and the Governor’s Council for Emergency
Services in Arizona. In addition, she has served as a member of the Houston
Business Forum and on the boards of the Institute of Management Consultants,
Arizona Chapter, the National Association for Home Care, the Arizona Association
for Home Care, the Arizona Red Cross and the YWCA. Luana is a member of Sigma
Theta Tau, a national honor society for nursing and an alumnus of Valley
Leadership in Phoenix, Arizona
