Creating Effective Systems for Addressing Language Barriers: Lessons from the Hospitals, Language, and Culture Study
In 2004 The Joint Commission received a grant to conduct ground-breaking field research on how issues of language and culture are being addressed in American hospitals today. The Hospitals, Language, and Culture Study yielded enormous data to help better understand this issue. This audio presentation will address the need for creating effective systems for dealing with language barriers and will provide some examples of creative processes employed by hospitals around the nation.

This 90-minute audio conference will consist of 60 minutes of formal presentation followed by a 30-minute moderated Q&A session via telephone.
