Jerry Gervais

Jerry Gervais is an associate director in standards interpretation and engineer at the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. In this role, he provides interpretation of standards, conducts periodic performance review conference calls, serves as faculty for educational programs and conducts surveys. Mr. Gervais is trained under the accreditation manuals for the environment of care in the ambulatory, assisted living, behavioral health care, critical access hospitals, home care, hospital, laboratory, long term care, networks, managed behavioral health care and office-based surgery programs. 

Mr. Gervais is very knowledgeable on the topics of emergency management, security and hazardous materials. After Hurricane Katrina, he made twenty trips to the Gulf region to re-open hospitals closed by the hurricane.  

Prior to joining the Joint Commission, Mr. Gervais held various positions at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois over a twenty-eight year time span. He most recently served as the Director of Facility Planning, Design, and Regulatory Compliance. Mr. Gervais is a graduate of DePaul University’s telecommunications program. He also received a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona.  

Mr. Gervais is a member of the American Society of HealthCare Engineers and the National Fire Protection Association. He is a Certified HealthCare Facility Manager and a Certified HealthCare Safety Professional.
