Credentialing, Privileging and Other Requirements - November 12-13, 2008, Phoenix, AZ

Program Summary
Participants will gain an understanding of the new 2008 Joint Commission Medical Staff standards and the requirements for credentialing and privileging for all licensed independent practitioners. Discussions will focus on peer review within the credentialing process and innovative approaches for processing medical staff applications.

The program will focus on the physician’s leadership role with the National Patient Safety Goals, performance improvement and medication management.  Elements of performance related to information management, provision of care and patient rights will be presented.  Related medical staff focused standards will also be addressed.

This program runs from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm on both days.

Objectives

  • Identify the MS Chapter changes for 2008
  • Describe the Joint Commission expectations for peer review as it relates to the credentialing process
  • Describe the credentialing process as a Priority Focus Area
  • Discuss strategies for dealing with disruptive physicians 

    Who Should Attend

    This program is designed for medical staff coordinators, directors of medical staff services, medical staff leadership, risk managers, and physicians responsible for credentialing and privileging duties such as chairs of departments and the executive committee.
