(OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill.-October 17, 2007) Joint Commission Resources (JCR) today announced that to date proceeds of nearly $35,000 from the best-selling book, YOU: The Smart Patient: An Insider's Handbook For Getting The Best Treatment, have been donated to the World Health Organization's (WHO) World Alliance for Patient Safety. JCR is a not-for-profit affiliate of The Joint Commission.
YOU: The Smart Patient: An Insider's Handbook For Getting The Best Treatment, a collaboration of JCR, The Joint Commission and bestselling authors Michael F. Roisen, M.D. and Mehmet C. Oz, M.D., provides valuable information patients need to take charge of their health care. Upon the book's release in 2006, JCR indicated it would donate net proceeds to charity, and was proud to select the World Alliance for Patient Safety as the recipient of the proceeds.
