Post-Conference Program Summary
While patient safety and healthcare worker safety are inextricably linked, by focusing on the safety of health care worker, the challenges impacting their well being can be investigated and solutions shared, leading to a healthier provider who in turn can offer more positive patient care experiences and help to generate better patient outcomes. Through an inter-disciplinary approach, a comprehensive overview of the surgical safety concerns is underscored by a close examination of key factors affecting health care workers: environment, equipment and ergonomics. Each faculty will provide an overview of current trends and issues within their area and share good practices, successful approaches, and useful tools designed to improve or enhance staff working conditions.
Program Objectives
Upon completion of this conference attendees will be able to:
Compare and contrast nationally identified surgical safety concerns to those within their own organization as a means of self improvement
Identity trends and issues and analyze challenges related to worker safety in order to initiate solutions within their organization related to the surgical environment or equipment
Relates ergonomics to worker safety as a mechanism to decrease both short-term and long-term injuries in order to maintain a healthy workforce
