NEW - Pediatric Patient Safety

JCR Introduces a New Consulting Service...

Joint Commission Resources offers a Pediatric Patient Safety Service, which focuses on the safe care of children in the emergency department. This offering is aimed at assisting the adult oriented hospital who cares for children.

This collaborative assessment identifies pediatric safety risks by evaluating four key processes in the emergency department setting: medication safety, communication, infection prevention and control and leadership.

Children in the emergency department are at a high risk for medication safety events due to the unique dosing features required and the stress and potentially rapid deterioration of the child's health status. Hand-off communications shift-to-shift or among care providers both in written and verbal form are often not comprehensive and accurate. More than one half of all pediatric visits to an emergency department are related to an infection and leadership's support and involvement to assure that this special population of patients is cared for in the safest and quality manner.

Pediatric clinical experts will assess your emergency department for patient safety related risks and identify with the JCR team the approaches and methods to mitigate those risks.  A plan of action and a plan to implement solutions will be designed and offered by JCR consultants.
