1. What is E-dition
E-dition provides online access to the Joint Commission standards. It has the same content as the Comprehensive Standards Manual
2. What is AMP?
Accreditation Manager Plus – an electronic tool used to help health care organizations maintain continuous compliance with standards set by The Joint Commission. It is built on top of E-dtion and has the same functionality such a full-text searching, filtering, and history tracking. In addition, AMP has project management features tha help with self assessment.
3. What is the relationship between AMP and E-dition?
E-dition is bundled with AMP. They will use similar interfaces.
4. Do I need to order E-dition as well as AMP?
No. An AMP license has and E-dition license bundled in the cost. So if you buy an AMP site license for the Hospital program you will get an E-dition Hospital license with your AMP license.
5. Is the content of the printed manual (CAM) the same as the AMP?
Yes, AMP includes all of the content in the printed manual
6. Will data migrate from the old AMP to the new one?
JCR will not be migrating data from Hospital, Ambulatory Care and Home Care. The reason is that the Joint Commission has made significant changes to these programs as part of their Standards Improvement Initiative. It is not possible to migrate the data because of this. The Joint Commission is not migrating data for these programs in the tool (the PPR) that customer use to report their annual compliance to the Joint Commission. Usually when you tell customers this they understand the issue. The customer will have access to the 2008 AMP site for a while and can use that to inform their work in 2009. We are still determining our ability to migrate data for Long Term Care, Behavioral Health Care, and Laboratory.
7. Will there still be a PDF of the print manual distributed with AMP?
No, E-dition replaces the need for the PDF. The PDF was included previously since AMP did not contain all of the information that was in the print manual. With the introduction of E-dition, that has the same content as the print manual, there is no longer a need for the PDF. E-dition has more functionality than the PDF.
8. Will there be PC and Network versions of AMP?
We will no longer offer a Windows based version of the product. So the PC and Network versions are being discontinued. Since we will only be supporting one version of the product (web interface) JCR will be able to add more features over time.
The single user license replaces the PC version of the product. It has the benefit of being able to access the AMP site from any PC with Internet access. The PC version was generally restricted to the PC where the software was loaded.
Network customers will have the option of Hosted or Local AMP site license. JCR is strongly recommending that Network customers consider the Hosted version. It is automatically updated for you and does not require local hardware or IT support.
9. What versions will be offered in 2009 for AMP?
There will be a hosted and local version. The hosted version has an option for a single user license as well as a site license. The local version is only available as a site license.
10. What should sites renew for AMP?
In addition to discontinuing the the Windows version of AMP, the names of the Extranet and Intranet versions have been changed. The chart below indicates the 2008 names and what version to order for 2009.

Sites that have had the network version should be encouraged to move to the hosted site license. The local site license has specific hardware and additional software requirements. It also takes a higher level of local IT technical support.
11. What is the difference between the Local and Hosted versions?
The hosted version of AMP is managed by JCR. So the site does not need to provide any technical support. The local version of AMP requires a server and additional software including SQL Server and Miscrosoft IIS. It also requires that the local IT support understand these additional pieces of software to properly configure them.
12. Why is the price for local AMP more expensive than hosted?
The local AMP price includes telephone support for installation of the local version. Many of the technical support questions that JCR receives have been about the Intranet version which is equivalent to the new local version. Many of the issues revolve around local settings and JCR has begun charging for that support. We hope that this will encourage more sites to move to the hosted version of AMP.
13. Are there different prices for renewing vs new sites?
There is just one price for each version of the product (hosted single license, hosted site license, and local site license).
