The ebook, German-language version of the Joint Commission International Accreditation Standards for Hospitals, Third Edition, provides the basis for accreditation of hospitals throughout the world, providing organizations with the information they need to pursue or maintain patient safety, performance improvement, and accredited status.
Important improvements to this edition include the following:
- All standards are now core standards--in these revised standards, all standards are considered equal in importance and weight toward achieving accreditation
- The increased role of leadership and oversight--increasing weight has been given to the role of leadership as overseers of all areas of a hospital's performance
- Stronger requirements in many areas--credentialing and privileging standards for health care professionals and a new requirement for a root cause analyses after sentinel events are among the enhancements
- International Patient Safety Goals--these 6 patient-centric goals are now evaluated as part of the JCI on-site survey
- New and significantly updated chapters--"Anesthesia and Surgical Care", and "Medication Management and Use", new chapters migrated from "Care of Patients"; and "Management of Communication and Information", which shifted communications standards from "Access to Care and Continuity of Care" to its own section in what was previously the "Management of Information" chapter

- A more robust, efficient sourcebook--cross-references to related standards and terms included in an updated and expanded glossary allow users to navigate the text easily and completely.
