Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital
Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital is one of the four demonstration sites working on the prevention of pressure ulcer project with the Nurse Safety Scholar-in-Residence.
Overview
Situated in Richmond, Virginia’s West End, St. Mary’s enjoys a solid reputation as a Richmond tradition by caring for patients for over forty years. The 391-bed acute care hospital campus also features additional medical office buildings, an on-site childcare center and diagnostic services.
Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital, part of Bon Secours Health System, has a commitment to quality and safe care for its patients in accordance with the Bon Secours Health System values and mission, “Good Help to Those in Need®.” The Bon Secours Center for Clinical Excellence brings together clinical leaders across our health system to facilitate and guide the direction of bedside practice to achieve our collective vision of Clinical Transformation. Three institutes for practice and innovation are part of the Center: The Institute for Nursing Practice, Patient Safety and Clinical Informatics. Each entity is working in collaboration with St. Mary’s Hospital, and all Bon Secours facilities, to ensure the highest quality of care is achieved and sustained across all settings.
With our currently selected initiatives for Clinical Transformation, the prevention of hospital-acquired pressure ulcers has been identified as a focus for improvements in care delivery to achieve “excellent outcomes for every patient every day.” We are dedicated to improving the safety of our patients by reducing and/or eliminating hospital-acquired pressure ulcers through evidence-based practices and research.
Bon Secours Health System, headquartered in Marriottsville, Maryland, a $2.9 billion not-for-profit Catholic health system, owns, manages, or joint ventures 18 acute-care hospitals, one psychiatric hospital, five nursing care facilities, five assisted living facilities, and several home care and hospice programs. Bon Secours’ more than 21,000 caregivers help people in ten communities in seven states, primarily on the East Coast.
