Elizabeth Maish has more than 28 years of experience in health care. She possesses a strong background in leadership, management, and health care quality and patient safety.
 
Ms. Maish is both a former Chief Nurse Executive and Quality Director, who has focused on leadership, performance improvement, and patient safety throughout her career. Hospital design and construction has figured prominently in her work and has been a platform to enhance both operational improvements and customer perception of the patient care experience. She has extensive experience in regulatory compliance and the licensing of health care facilities as well.
 
Ms. Maish has held leadership and faculty positions in both teaching and community hospitals. Her clinical expertise includes neonatal intensive care; high and low risk obstetrics; women’s health, acute care, and procedural area management. Emergency department operational improvements, falls prevention, and improving surgical safety have also been part of Ms. Maish’s professional development. She has presented in the areas of women’s health, health care quality measurement, models of care within health care reform, patient perception measurement and action planning, and medical staff regulatory and accreditation standards.

Ms. Maish received her bachelor of science in nursing from Arizona State University School of Nursing, in Tempe, Arizona. She achieved her master of science in nursing from Seattle Pacific University, Seattle, Washington, in the Leadership track. Her master’s thesis was a research study entitled Patient Satisfaction with Childbirth Experiences. She is a Joint Commission-certified Yellow Belt and a member of the Safe Health Design team at Joint Commission Resources.
 
Her professional affiliations include the National Association for Healthcare Quality and the Arizona Association for Healthcare Quality. She serves on two boards: the Arizona Association for Healthcare Quality and the Pima Community College Foundation. Ms. Maish has received a two-year appointment to the National Quality Foundation, National Association of Health Care Quality.
