Janis Lytle, NHA, MN, CPHQ
CSR Senior Consultant, Joint Commission Resources, Inc.
Ms. Lytle has extensive experience in clinical health care in acute care settings as well as experience in long term care. She has expertise in health care leadership and management, accreditation data analysis and performance improvement methodologies. She joined Joint Commission Resources in 2001 as a CSR Consultant.
Ms. Lytle’s prior experience at The Joint Commission was as a long term care surveyor. She was trained as a nurse surveyor for the Hospital Accreditation Program. Presently she serves as the Project Director for a national CSR program.
Ms. Lytle brings demonstrated expertise as a critical care nurse, a medical surgical nurse and an administrative supervisor to her role as a CSR Consultant for Joint Commission Resources. Ms. Lytle served as the Director of Review Operations at the Peer Review Organization for Georgia and was responsible for evaluation of quality of care, medical records coding review and utilization of services by nurse reviewers in Georgia hospitals for six years. In this role she also provided education for providers and hospitals in the areas of documentation of care and assessment of quality of care.
Ms. Lytle served as the Director of Quality Services for a geriatric center in the metro Atlanta area with responsibility for performance improvement, accreditation services and corporate compliance across the continuum of acute care services, long term acute care, long term care, assisted living and residential living facilities. She provided consultation to a variety of long term care and assisted living facilities on issues related to accreditation and performance improvement. In her role as Director of Quality, she served as a member of the Ethics Committee of the Center and participated in planning of ethics grand rounds and consultations.
Ms. Lytle was trained in the Forte communication assessment and worked collaboratively to provide consultation on communication styles and utilization of knowledge of communication styles in developing team work.
Ms. Lytle served as the coordinator for the southeast Consortium for Long Term Care Quality at the Emory Center for Health in Aging. She participated in research initiatives in long term care including culture of safety. She provided education of assisted living residents and staff related to continence management and prevention of falls in the long term care setting.
Ms. Lytle earned her bachelor of science degree in nursing at the University of South Carolina. She graduated with the distinction of cum laude. She was elected to Who’s Who in student nursing in South Carolina. She earned her master of nursing degree with a specialty in nursing administration from the Nell Hodgson School of Nursing of Emory University.
Her professional affiliations include Certified Professional in Health Care Quality (CPHQ), National Association Healthcare Quality since 1995. She is a licensed professional nurse and a member of Sigma Theta Tau since 1968 and served as an officer of the Alpha Epsilon Chapter. Ms. Lytle served as a member of the Board of the Atlanta Alzheimer’s Association form 1992-1995. Ms. Lytle is a licensed Nursing Home Administrator in Georgia. She is also a Joint Commission-certified Yellow Belt.
