Applying the NFPA 101® Life Safety Code® to The Joint Commission Statement of Conditions

This 3-day comprehensive seminar provides information on the Life Safety Code as it is applied to health care occupancies under four parts of the Joint Commission’s Statement of Conditions (SOC).  The seminar is taught by seminar leaders with direct experience in code content, application and inspection.  Attendees will develop a comprehensive understanding of the seven components of the EC standards:  safety, security, hazardous materials and waste, emergency preparedness, life safety, medical equipment, and utility systems.  Updates will be provided on new Joint Commission EC standards.

Program Objectives

Describe the key components of the seven required management plans for the Environment of care
Identify strategies to measure and assess the effectiveness of the required management plans
Identify key standards and discuss practical examples and strategies of how to implement them
Apply the core chapters of NFPA 101 and the occupancy-specific requirements for healthcare occupancies

Faculty for this program includes an actual Environment of Care Engineer from The Joint Commission, representing the Standard Interpretation Group.
