Kenneth Haber has been in hospital support services and safety for 32 years. As a JCR consultant, Mr. Haber provides health care physical environment and support services expertise for organizations needing assistance with compliance with Joint Commission and federal regulations. Mr. Haber has extensive experience developing and leading successful programs in safety (including employee safety and ergonomics), security, emergency management, medical equipment management, fire safety, utilities management, food services, environmental services, patient transport, hazardous waste management, and environmental sustainability.
Mr. Haber spent the last seven years as the Vice President Support Services and Safety Officer at the 2,200-bed New York Presbyterian Hospital, managing all aspects of the physical environment and support services across five campuses encompassing approximately 10 million square feet. Prior to joining New York Presbyterian Hospital, Mr. Haber spent 10 years as the Vice President General Services/Safety Officer at The New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens. Mr. Haber also was part of hospital management at Nassau County Medical Center, Westchester County Medical Center and United Hospital.
Mr. Haber is one of the creators of the “Patient Safety Fridays” program, which has been identified as a best practice in regulatory compliance. He was responsible for implementation of a “state-of-the-art” recycling program, used as a model for New York State and other facilities. This program was recognized by Modern Healthcare, and Mr. Haber was a recipient of the 1997 Service Excellence Award.
Mr. Haber is a graduate of Long Island University (Masters of Public Administration). Mr. Haber has been actively involved with the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is a “fellow” and has also received Masters Level Certification as a Healthcare Safety Professional from the International Board for Certification of Safety Managers.
In addition, Mr. Haber spent some time in manufacturing and consulting focused on business expansion, safety and improved operating efficiencies. Mr. Haber is also a published author with recent articles on safety and sustainability.
