Sample of the MDRO Toolkit
This toolkit was created to help healthcare leaders develop and implement new strategies for preventing the growing number of multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs).
The toolkit includes the following:
• Tools that allow measurement of the incidence of MDROs in healthcare organizations
• Educational tools that address the cost and clinical outcomes of resistance and inappropriate antimicrobial therapy; the tools include fundamental and cutting-edge prevention strategies
• An electronic self-assessment tool that helps organizations evaluate the scope of the problem
The tools are designed to be practical and flexible. Some have been pre-populated to provide examples; these are fully adaptable to your unique circumstances. Others encourage you to add the data from your own hospital to obtain a picture of the economic or financial burden of MDROs at your facility. Still other tools provide a checklist, a guide for behaviors, or examples of various approaches to important questions. We hope these tools are helpful as you lead your organization in reducing antibiotic resistance and minimizing MDRO infections.
