Catherine Chopp Hinckley, PhD
Executive Director, Publications and Education
Catherine Chopp Hinckley is the Executive Director, Publications and Education, Joint Commission Resources (JCR). Dr. Hinckley has held this position since 2003. In this role, Cathy is responsible for the strategy and direction for all books, accreditation manuals, periodicals, and ebooks published by JCR as well as those by The Joint Commission and Joint Commission International. Cathy is also responsible for the development of JCR books for health care consumers as well as for the translation, sale, and distribution of JCR titles internationally.
Previous to her role as Executive Director, Publications, Dr. Hinckley served as Associate Director, Editorial Development (2001-2003); Managing Editor (1997-2001); and Senior Editor (1993-1997). She has developed and edited dozens of books on health care quality and patient safety as well as managed the peer-reviewed The Joint Commission Journal on Quality and Patient Safety, which she continues to oversee.
Prior to joining JCR, Dr. Hinckley taught English literature and writing at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Hinckley received her Master of Arts and PhD in English from The Ohio State University and her Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Notre Dame. She is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society.
