CJCP® Exam Preparation
Preparing for the Examination
To prepare for the CJCP examination, candidates should be familiar with the Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Hospitals (CAMH). We recommend that you not only know the standards, but understand the intent behind them. Studying chapter introductions of the CAMH, introductions to specific standards, and the rationales for standards can help candidates clarify the intents behind certain standards. Other helpful resources include the standard FAQs on The Joint Commission web site, reading Perspectives, as well as considering the 9 education modules/webinars that JCR has available.
CJCP exams will be offered quarterly at a location convenient to you. Once your application is processed and deemed complete, you will be notified of further instructions to begin scheduling your exam time. Candidates have one year from the time of application to take the exam.
Notice to CJCP Candidates for the January 2017 Exam
For those taking the Certified Joint Commission Professional™ (CJCP®) Examination during the month of January 2017, please note that quality control procedures will be undertaken during this testing month. This is conducted every first testing month with the release of a new examination. Prior to final scoring of the examination, the examination items and resulting statistics will be reviewed. Until review of this information is finalized, pass/fail status will not be reported to candidates. Therefore, you will not receive your score report immediately upon completion of the exam. Once these quality control procedures have been completed we will provide the anticipated date for the release of results. We appreciate your understanding of this waiting period as JCR continues to annually participate in a formal passing point study. This ultimately benefits candidates and additional test takers for the 2017 calendar year. Candidates are still encouraged to consider taking their examination in January if that is their preferred month; however, we wanted to make sure you were aware of the delay in test results. Additional testing months for the year will remain the same with score reports provided upon completion of the exam (April, July, and October). Should you have any questions, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The CJCP® Examination is a computer based examination provided at one of our proctored testing site facilities. Most facilities are within 50 miles of all major U.S. cities. Candidates will have 3 hours to complete the examination which contains 150 multiple choice questions. To pass the examination and earn the CJCP® credential, a candidate must score 79.3% (119 correct questions), OR 77.3% (116 correct questions) dependent upon the examination template that they receive. The passing score is reflective of an ongoing passing point survey (cut score) that is led by our team of Psychometricians at Applied Measurement Professionals, Inc. It is important to note that the scoring is reflective of the 2015 examination and may be adjusted on future examinations.
