Michael Chihoski is a certified health care facility manager and certified health care safety professional with more than 20 years of experience working in the health care industry. Mr. Chihoski has worked for several large hospitals and has been consulting in health care facilities management for more than 15 years. Throughout his career Mr. Chihoski has been involved in more than 1,500 projects for more than 350 hospitals nationwide.
Mr. Chihoski is currently the Senior Vice President, Corporate Engineering Division, for OSF Healthcare System in Peoria, Illinois. In his current role, Mr. Chihoski is responsible for corporate management of real estate, property management, design and construction, plant operations, clinical engineering, security, and environmental health and safety. Mr. Chihoski’s responsibilities include the oversight of a real estate portfolio consisting of more than 200 properties valued in excess of $1.5 billion, over 60,000 pieces of medical equipment, valued in excess of $600 million and a capital construction program in excess of $1 billion.
In his role with JCR Mr. Chihoski provides expert consulting services to all areas of the physical environment including Life Safety, Environment of Care, and Emergency Management.
Mr. Chihoski has received numerous awards and recognition for his leadership in facilities management and construction and is a frequent speaker at regional and national professional organizations and conferences. In 2009 Mr. Chihoski was selected to represent the United States at an international planning workshop in Tunisia, Africa sponsored by the World Health Organization on Safe Hospital Design and Emergency Management.
Mr. Chihoski is a Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM), Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) and a Senior of the American Society of Healthcare Engineering (SASHE). Mr. Chihoski earned a B.S. Industrial Technology and M.S. Industrial Management both from Northern Illinois University. Mr. Chihoski is also currently part of the Advanced Management Development Program (AMDP) in Real Estate at Harvard University, Graduate School of Design, and anticipates completion in July 2012.
