Dr. Molteni has more than 35 years of experience in health care, including expertise in physician relations, patient safety, quality indicators, credentialing, privileging and peer review.

 

He brings a wealth of clinical and administrative experience to his role as a consultant for Joint Commission Resources, Inc. (JCR). He has been senior vice president and VPMA of a large independent children’s hospital and associate dean of a medical school. He has broad leadership experience in a number of large health care systems and academic institutions. His responsibilities have included medical director of pediatrics in a large rural integrated health system, a physician director of the practice plan in an academic medical center, clinical director of pediatrics in a large integrated 26-hospital system, and a practicing pediatrician and neonatologist in a number of academic medical centers.

 

Dr. Molteni’s leadership roles have prepared him to effectively evaluate and consult in the areas of operational assessment; patient safety assessment; executive leadership; medical staff leadership; incorporating tracer methodology and the periodic performance review as management tools; credentialing; privileging; and peer review issues.

 

He serves on national committees for the American Medical Association, the AmericanAcademy of Pediatrics and the National Association of Children’s Hospitals. He presently sits on a number of taskforces devoted to patient safety and the development of national pediatric quality indicators. Dr. Molteni has been the Chair of the Section on Perinatal Medicine of the AmericanAcademy of Pediatrics and has been their Advisor to the AMA CPT Editorial Panel as well as a member of that Panel. He has lectured widely in topics on neonatal medicine as well as coding and reimbursement.

 

Dr. Molteni received his doctor of medicine from the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry, Newark, New Jersey; completed his internship at Denver Children’s Hospital, Denver, Colorado; and was a resident in pediatrics, University of Colorado, Denver, Colorado and a fellow in neonatology at the same institution. He has attended the Quality Improvement Advanced Training Program, Intermountain Healthcare, and Salt Lake City, Utah; and has studied in the Executive MBA Program at the University of Utah.

 

His other affiliations include the American Pediatrics Association, Western Society of Pediatric Research, American Medical Association, National Perinatal Association, and National Association of Children’s Hospitals, Child Health Corporation of America and the AmericanCollege of Physician Executives.
