Norma Kay Sprayberry, RN, MSN

Norma Kay Sprayberry’s expertise includes hospital operations, organizational effectiveness, survey accreditation preparedness and quality improvement. She has more than 35 years of experience in clinical practice, administration and education in hospitals, home health and assisted living facilities.
Ms. Sprayberry provides consultations for hospital programs and ambulatory sites including operational assessments, preparation for accreditation survey, medication management, staffing effectiveness, infection control and prevention, and performance improvement. She utilizes periodic performance review and tracer methodologies as management tools for self-assessment of organizations and ongoing compliance measurement. She has extensive experience implementing the National Patient Safety Goals and has developed an organizational strategy for continuous readiness for organizations seeking Joint Commission accreditation.
Ms. Sprayberry most recently served as the chief nursing officer for a 300-bed, acute care community hospital. She has also held the position of director of performance improvement where she was responsible for Joint Commission surveys and hospital and medical staff quality improvement.
Ms. Sprayberry received her bachelor’s of science in nursing from Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville, Alabama and her master’s of science in health care administration and nursing from the University of Alabama, Birmingham, Alabama. She completed a hospital administration residency at the Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans, Louisiana and participated in the Wharton School of Business Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She is also a Joint Commission-certified Yellow Belt.
