Diane Torres brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in acute care, ambulatory services, and behavioral health settings to her role as a consultant for Joint Commission Resources, Inc. and Joint Commission International. She served as Senior Director of patient care services for a large national health care company and was responsible for operations and quality outcomes. In the hospital section she served as interim CEO, COO and CNO assignments when turnaround quality and operations’ processes were required.
 
Previously, she worked as President and CEO of rural health systems in Michigan, Illinois and Florida. The systems included freestanding ambulatory surgical centers, community hospice, regional cancer center and numerous other health-related services. Additionally, Ms. Torres led for-profit hospitals in Florida through operations, quality and financial turnaround. She also worked as COO in an urban facility providing health care services to a predominately uninsured patient base, including an academic/university affiliation; and has worked as vice president of operations and patient services where she was responsible for all professional, ancillary and nursing care departments.
 
Ms. Torres’ consulting expertise includes performance improvement; strategic/tactical planning; outcome measurement and clinical benchmarking; leadership development and education; staffing and productivity; dysfunctional organization analysis and correction; and standards and survey process education and preparation.
 
Ms. Torres’ work has included Joint Commission standards and education, international consultation, efficiency improvement and physician contract negotiation. Her experience in quality metrics has included service efficiency, clinical outcomes through critical pathways, and reduced costs in service line efficiency. She has been published in such periodicals as the Nursing Administration Quarterly and Supervisor Nurse on topics such as patient acuity systems, continuing education and emergency response.
 
Ms. Torres received her bachelor’s of science in nursing from State University of New York, Albany, New York; and her master’s of business management from Aquinas College, Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is a certified nurse administrator, advanced.
 
Her professional affiliations include American College of Health Care Executives, American Organization of Nurse Executives, (CENP), and American Academy of Medical Administrators. She is also a Joint Commission-certified Yellow Belt.
