In 2008, Joint Commission Resources (JCR) launched The Flu Vaccination Challenge to help increase flu immunization rates among health care workers (HCWs) above the national average of 49%.*
During the 2009-2010 flu season, the second year of The Flu Vaccination Challenge yielded an average immunization rate of 76% - a 13% increase over the rate reported in 2008-2009 and 27% above the national health care workers flu vaccination average.
For the 2010-2011 flu season, The Flu Vaccination Challenge is continuing to raise the bar among health care workers to increase their flu vaccination rates. This year, your health care organization is encouraged to achieve one of the three tiers below:
