Product Description

For hospitals to participate in and receive payment from the Medicare and Medicaid programs, they must meet the eligibility requirements for program participation and obtain a certification of compliance with the Conditions of Participation (CoPs) set forth in federal regulations.

In this series of 12-monthly programs, participants will gain a better understanding of CMS, CoPs, the CMS survey process, the statement of deficiencies, Plan of Corrections, types of termination tracks, potential outcomes, and resurveys (or other types of follow-up by a CMS surveyor). You will also receive detailed information about CMS’s adoption of the 2012 Life Safety Code, and how it will affect practices within your organization. Overall, this webinar series will provide you with a comprehensive overview of what hospitals need to know relative to compliance with CMS.

Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Explain the different CMS-related components, including CoPs, the CMS survey process, the statement of deficiencies, Plan of Corrections, etc.
  • Identify common compliance issues related to CMS
  • Discuss strategies to stay in compliance with CMS

Because regulations and guidelines do change, it is a good idea to check for updates from your state, county or city on a regular basis and always before registering for a specific course to make sure it will be acceptable for your license/certification renewal

Summary of Continuing Education contact hours awarded:

  • ACCME: 1 hour for each session
  • ANCC:  1 hour for each session
  • ACHE:  1 hour for each session
  • CA Board of Registered Nursing: 1 hour for each session
  • CJCP:  1 CJCP Credit Hour Towards Recertification for each session

ACCME:
Joint Commission Resources is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medication education for physicians.  Joint Commission Resources takes responsibility for the content, quality, and scientific integrity of this CME activity.  Joint Commission Resources designates this educational activity for the listed contact hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s).  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

ANCC:
Joint Commission Resources is also accredited as a provider of continuing nurse education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Joint Commission Resources designates this continuing nursing education activity for the listed contact hours.

ACHE:
Joint Commission is authorized to award pre-approved ACHE Qualified Education credit for programs toward advancement, or recertification in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Participants in select programs wishing to have the continuing education hours applied toward ACHE Qualified Education credit must self-report their participation. To self-report, participants should log into their MyACHE account and select ACHE Qualified Education Credit.

CA Board of Registered Nursing:
Joint Commission Resources is provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 6381 for the listed contact hours.

CJCP® (Certified Joint Commission Professional®):
To obtain CJCP credit hours, individuals must first be certified before they may start acquiring CJCP credit hours. CJCP credit hours will not be retroactive. CJCP professionals are required to maintain 30 CJCP credit hours within their three-year certification period.

Criteria for Successful Completion:

  • Full attendance at every session is a prerequisite for receiving full continuing education credits
  • Completion of program evaluation form
