This 15th annual Emergency Preparedness Conference showcases responses to real life disasters and threats, features Joint Commission experts to help you break down related accreditation standards, and offers the opportunity to network with the best in your field.
 
Who Should Attend:
The content will benefit all hospital and non-hospital organizations in the development and execution of their emergency operation plans as required by CMS and The Joint Commission.

What Will You Learn:
This two-day intensive event focuses on how compliance with Joint Commission standards will help prepare your organization for emergencies and disasters. Featuring nationally recognized experts and presentations, you will be able to augment your current strategies with demonstrated practices. You’ll also receive a comprehensive overview of the latest research in the field of emergency management through poster presentations, courtesy of the Yale New Haven Health System.

Program Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
  1. List the most frequently cited emergency management accreditation standards within the Joint Commission survey process.
  2. Describe key infection prevention strategies associated with an emergency operations plan.
  3. List the key components of the CMS Final Rule applicable to healthcare organizations
  4. Identify the six key changes to the Hospital Preparedness Program, (HPP) Funding Opportunity Announcement.

Continuing Education

Because regulations and guidelines do change, it is a good idea to check for updates from your state, county or city on a regular basis and always before registering for a specific course to make sure it will be acceptable for your license/certification renewal

Summary of Continuing Education contact hours awarded for this program:

  • ANCC: 12 CE
  • ACHE: 12 CE
  • CJCP: 4.25 credit hours towards recertification

The Joint Commission is accredited to provide continuing education credit/hours by the following organizations:

JOINT ACCREDITATION (ACCME, ANCC, ACPE):
The Joint Commission is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

ACHE:
The Joint Commission is authorized to award X hours or pre-approved ACHE Qualified Education credit for this program toward advancement, or recertification, in the American College of Healthcare Executives.  Participants in this program wishing to have the continuing education hours applied toward ACHE Qualified Education credit should indicate their attendance when submitting an application to the American College of Healthcare Executives for advancement or recertification.

ADA CERP:
The Joint Commission is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry. Concerns or complaints about a CE provider may be directed to the provider or to ADA CERP at ADA.org/CERP.

CA Board of Registered Nursing:
Joint Commission Resources is provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 6381 for the listed contact hours.

CJCP® (Certified Joint Commission Professional®):
To obtain CJCP credit hours, individuals must first be certified before they may start acquiring CJCP credit hours. CJCP credit hours will not be retroactive. CJCP professionals are required to maintain 30 CJCP credit hours within their three-year certification period.

Criteria for Successful Completion:

  • Full attendance at every session is a prerequisite for receiving full continuing education credits
  • Completion of program evaluation form
  • NOTE: For Pharmacists, you will be required to provide your NAPB # and DOB (MM/DD)

Participants are strongly encourages to check with their specific state regulatory boards, employers or other agencies to confirm that educational programs taken from the Joint Commission for IACET CEUs will be accepted.

What is a Continuing Education Unit?
Through the Continuing Education Unit System, you receive formal recognition for improving your knowledge and skills by completing Joint Commission seminars.

Under the CEU system, one unit is awarded for completion of 10 hours of participation in our seminars and conferences in an organized, continuing education experience that provides responsible sponsorship, capable direction and qualified instruction.

What does the CEU mean to you and your career?
You receive immediate recognition for your career development efforts. A CEU certificate suitable from framing will be sent to you upon satisfactory completion of the Joint Commission seminar you have attended.

The CEU system…

  • Allows you to build a permanent record of achievement as you take part in education or training to further your career.
  • Provides a means for showing supervisors, personnel officers and others an official document that shows you have completed a seminar as part of your preparation for wider responsibilities and higher-level positions.
  • Offers a means for giving official confirmation of your completion of continuing professional education seminars to certification bodies, licensing boards and professional societies.

Payments
Payments submitted by check take up to 14 days to process.  If you are registering for a program less than 14 days away, please pay with a credit card or your registration may not be received in time and your seat may not be reserved.

Substitutions, Transfers, and Cancellation Policy
Registration is nontransferable between JCR education programs due to variability in program sponsors. If you find that you cannot attend, you may send an alternate in your place.  Please send us the alternate’s full name, title, credentials, address, phone and e-mail address.  In the event of a cancellation, your registration fee, less a $100 processing fee, is refundable, if written notice of cancellation is faxed no later than 30 days prior to the program date.  All alternate or cancellation information should be emailed to rraudys.@jcrinc.com. Refunds will not be issued for cancellations received after this date or for any no shows. JCR reserves the right to cancel or reschedule due to unforeseen circumstances.

Joint Commission Resources reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a program due to an insufficient number of registrants or other unforeseen circumstances. If a program must be cancelled, the registration fee will be refunded in full to each registrant. You may verify current program status on our website or by calling JCR Customer Service at 877-223-6866.  Neither Joint Commission Resources nor The Joint Commission is responsible for a registrant's travel expenses in the event a program is cancelled.
