Following his training in internal medicine and cardiology, Dr. Edward Catherwood entered a private practice focused on cardiovascular medicine. He subsequently transitioned to a full-time, salaried academic setting which incorporated clinical care, research, and the education and training of medical students, residents and fellows. He achieved the academic rank of Associate Professor of Medicine, earned a Master of Science degree, and held a number of leadership positions in the Cardiovascular Medicine section. His research efforts focused on acute coronary syndromes, cost-effective care, and process improvement.
