Ms. Jane M. Penny is a Continuous Service Readiness® consultant with Joint Commission Resources. Ms. Penny has more than 30 years of experience in various leadership roles in clinical and administrative settings. Prior to joining the Joint Commission Resources, Ms. Penny served as the Director of Quality Improvement Service at 5 different large, complex VA Medical Centers where she participated as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and Resources Board. Oversight experience included accreditation and survey readiness, performance improvement, system redesign, data and analytics, customer service, credentialing and privileging, risk management, patient safety, and utilization management. She has been instrumental in creating and sustaining organizational cultures for both quality and patient safety which led to successful surveys during her career. She is first and foremost a patient advocate since inception into the health care arena.
Ms. Penny is a VHA Certified Mentor and has been privileged to be a mentor and preceptor for multiple employees due to her passion of sharing knowledge, expertise and experiences. She has led process changes and outcome improvement programs in each role served through the involvement of both front-line nursing and ancillary staff. Ms. Penny served as a trainer for the National Treating Veterans with CARE programs and shared her expertise and commitment for exceptional customer service across the VA System. She also has experience as a Baldrige Examiner for Health Care and was a Senior Team Leader and Consultant for the VHA SOARS (Systematic Ongoing Assessment and Review Strategy) Program.
