Marwa J. Zohdy, PhD, CJCP
Vice President, Global Consulting Services
Marwa J. Zohdy is Vice President of Global Consulting Services for Joint Commission Resources and Joint Commission International. In this role, she is responsible for all aspects of JCR and JCI consulting, helping health care organizations in the U.S. and in more than 100 countries to achieve excellence in quality and patient safety. Since late 2013, she has overseen the strategy and portfolio of consulting services, as well as the management and development of 100-plus expert consultants worldwide.
Prior to this role, Dr. Zohdy spent several years at McKinsey & Company in the Healthcare Systems and Services practice, where she led work to address strategic challenges in health care. She has worked closely with top leaders in U.S. hospitals, health systems, and academic medical centers, as well as with national and regional ministries of health in the United Kingdom and the Middle East and North Africa.
Her expertise and experience include hospital system growth strategy, national health insurance reform, best practices in stroke and diabetes care pathways, development of innovative products and services within health systems, and regional health system design.
She also served as a Knowledge Expert with McKinsey’s Health Systems Institute and led ongoing efforts in recruiting, training, and professional development of consultants.
Most recently she supported Chicago’s economic development, serving as Director of Implementation for Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s Plan for Economic Growth and Jobs.
Dr. Zohdy earned a PhD in biomedical engineering from the University of Michigan, with a research focus on ultrasound imaging and targeted laser therapy for cancer cells. She also earned a Master of Science in biomedical engineering and a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan.
