 Who Should Attend:

This two-day seminar is targeted for Home Care professionals who are new to accreditation or to a greater role in compliance activities, such as a supervisor that has become a Director of Quality Improvement. Additional roles that may benefit are: RNs, MDs, Accreditation / Survey Managers, Supervisor, Patient Safety Officers, Pharmacists, Social Workers, Physical Therapists, Respiratory Therapists, Administrators, and Medical Directors.


 What You Will Learn:

You will receive practical guidance from expert faculty to help you with your compliance efforts. Not only does this program go through all the home care requirements including the early survey option, it will also discuss the current status of Project REFRESH, a process improvement initiative at The Joint Commission and the SAFER™ Matrix. Identify the current benefits, trends, and updates reported with the SAFER ™ Matrix being used among accredited home care organizations. Resources available to help in the entire accreditation process are given.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to: 
1. Identify and manage risk points in The Joint Commission’s (TJC) standards and survey processes related to your organization’s ongoing survey readiness activities.
2. Describe unique aspects of your organization’s service line(s) for your organization’s home care accreditation, including the focus on safety culture.
3. Recall at least two of The Joint Commission’s National Patient Safety Goals.
4. Implement strategies and compliance tips for home care accreditation standards, including challenging standards, in your home care organization.

Continuing Education

Because regulations and guidelines do change, it is a good idea to check for updates from your state, county or city on a regular basis and always before registering for a specific course to make sure it will be acceptable for your license/certification renewal

The Joint Commission is accredited to provide continuing education credit/hours by the following organizations:

The Joint Commission is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

The Joint Commission is authorized to award the listed hours or pre-approved ACHE Qualified Education credit for this program toward advancement, or recertification, in the American College of Healthcare Executives.  Participants in this program wishing to have the continuing education hours applied toward ACHE Qualified Education credit must self-report their participation. To self-report, participants should log into their MyACHE account and select ACHE Qualified Education Credit.

CJCP® (Certified Joint Commission Professional®):
To obtain CJCP credit hours, individuals must first be certified before they may start acquiring CJCP credit hours. CJCP credit hours will not be retroactive. CJCP professionals are required to maintain 30 CJCP credit hours within their three-year certification period.

The Joint Commission is an authorized provider to provide continuing education units (CEUs) for select educational programs by The International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).  CEUs are accepted by many companies, boards and organizations for specialty licenses and certifications.  For further information about IACET, check the website ( Participants are strongly encourages to check with their specific state regulatory boards, employers or other agencies to confirm that educational programs taken from the Joint Commission for IACET CEUs will be accepted.

Criteria for Successful Completion:

  • Individually registered for the program.

  • NOTE: For Pharmacists, you will be required to provide your NAPB # and DOB (MM/DD)

Under the CEU system, one unit is awarded for completion of 10 hours of participation in our seminars and conferences in an organized, continuing education experience that provides responsible sponsorship, capable direction and qualified instruction.

What does the CEU mean to you and your career?
You receive immediate recognition for your career development efforts. A CEU certificate suitable from framing will be sent to you upon satisfactory completion of the Joint Commission seminar you have attended.

The CEU system…

  • Allows you to build a permanent record of achievement as you take part in education or training to further your career.
  • Provides a means for showing supervisors, personnel officers and others an official document that shows you have completed a seminar as part of your preparation for wider responsibilities and higher-level positions.
  • Offers a means for giving official confirmation of your completion of continuing professional education seminars to certification bodies, licensing boards and professional societies.

Payments submitted by check take up to 14 days to process.  If you are registering for a program less than 14 days away, please pay with a credit card or your registration may not be received in time and your seat may not be reserved.

Substitutions, Transfers, and Cancellation Policy
Registration is nontransferable between JCR education programs due to variability in program sponsors. If you find that you cannot attend, you may send an alternate in your place.  Please send us the alternate’s full name, title, credentials, address, phone and e-mail address.  In the event of a cancellation, your registration fee, less a $100 processing fee, is refundable, if written notice of cancellation is faxed no later than 30 days prior to the program date.  All alternate or cancellation information should be emailed to Refunds will not be issued for cancellations received after this date or for any no shows. JCR reserves the right to cancel or reschedule due to unforeseen circumstances.
