Joint Commission Resources Appoints New Board Member

(OAK BROOK, Illinois – May 18, 2016) Joint Commission Resources, Inc. (JCR), a nonprofit affiliate of The Joint Commission, today announced the appointment of Dr. Desmond Thio to its Board of Directors. Dr. Thio is CEO at DeltaHealth Hospital and DeltaHealth Clinic in Shanghai, China. In this leadership role, he is responsible for the hospital and clinic’s efforts to provide world-class medical care and outstanding patient service.

            Prior to DeltaHealth, Dr. Thio was president and senior vice president at Philips Healthcare Greater China where he was responsible for business operations in mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Dr. Thio oversaw all business modalities, including diagnostic imaging, image guided therapy, ultrasound, patient monitors and hospital informatics. He also previously held executive positions at Pagoda Pharma Group China, Abbott International USA and Pharmacia.

Dr. Thio has a Doctor of Philosophy and Business Administration in Applied Economics from the University of Versailles, INSEEC and Tsinghua University’s combined doctoral program. He also received a Doctor of Medicine degree from Mundial University and a Master of Science degree in Preventive Medicine from Ohio State University.
