Event Description

This one-day program is designed for professionals that are responsible for coordinating or implementing an orthopedic certification program in their health organization.  During this interactive solutions-based program, participants will be provided with practical strategies and implementation tips that can be adapted and applied in their orthopedic program.

Two tracks will be offered to provide content for specific orthopedic services. Track A focuses on Orthopedic Core Certification.  It is for health care organization that are new to orthopedic certification or want to expand their orthopedic portfolio.  Content will address core total hip and total knee replacement certification programs, spinal surgery certification programs, total shoulder and total ankle certification programs.  Track B is designed for ambulatory surgery centers and hospital based that have or are interested in obtaining Advanced Orthopedic Certification.

Joint Commission’s leadership for the Disease-Specific Care program and reviewers knowledgeable in Orthopedic Certification Programs will provide an overview of the review process, deliver an in-depth review of the challenging and new standards, choosing appropriate performance measures, and allow time for participants to ask candid questions.

The Joint Commission is accredited to provide continuing education credit/hours by the following organizations:

JOINT ACCREDITATION (ACCME, ANCC):
The Joint Commission is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

ACHE:
The Joint Commission is authorized to award X hours or pre-approved ACHE Qualified Education credit for this program toward advancement, or recertification, in the American College of Healthcare Executives.  Participants in this program wishing to have the continuing education hours applied toward ACHE Qualified Education credit should indicate their attendance when submitting an application to the American College of Healthcare Executives for advancement or recertification.

Criteria for Successful Completion:

  • Full attendance at every session is a prerequisite for receiving full continuing education credits
  • Completion of program evaluation form
  • NOTE: For Pharmacists, you will be required to provide your NAPB # and DOB (MM/DD)

Through the Continuing Education Unit System, you receive formal recognition for improving your knowledge and skills by completing Joint Commission seminars.

Under the CEU system, one unit is awarded for completion of 10 hours of participation in our seminars and conferences in an organized, continuing education experience that provides responsible sponsorship, capable direction and qualified instruction.

What does the CEU mean to you and your career?
You receive immediate recognition for your career development efforts. A CEU certificate suitable from framing will be sent to you upon satisfactory completion of the Joint Commission seminar you have attended.

The CEU system…

  • Allows you to build a permanent record of achievement as you take part in education or training to further your career.
  • Provides a means for showing supervisors, personnel officers and others an official document that shows you have completed a seminar as part of your preparation for wider responsibilities and higher-level positions.
