Melissa Kline
Background
Dr. Melissa Kline was most recently System Chief Nurse Executive at a large urban, academic essential health system in Ohio. She spent over 26 years serving in a variety of roles from clinical nurse in critical care to the chief nurse from 2016 to mid-2024. As Chief Nurse, she had responsibility for nursing practice and operations across the system, including advanced practice providers. During her tenure, the system achieved their third and fourth Magnet designation and several other nursing recognitions. In addition to nursing, she oversaw accreditation, patient experience, and emergency preparedness.
Dr. Kline is also a part-time instructor at Cleveland State University School of Nursing in the MSN program, teaching a course on health care finance. She previously designed and taught a course in the DNP program on strategic planning, quality, and business impacts.
Dr. Kline served on the ANCC’s Commission on Magnet Recognition® from 2018-2024. She is an active member of AONL where she has served on several committees and taskforces. She completed a term as the President of Ohio ONL after serving as Secretary and on the Evidence Based Practice and Bylaws Committees. She was the first nurse to Chair the Board at the Center for Health Affairs (regional hospital association) and is a board member at Journey Center for Safety and Healing (formerly known as the Domestic Violence and Child Advocacy Center).
