Background


As a High Reliability Consultant, Colleen is responsible for leading activities that support domestic and international hospitals and other health care settings such as ambulatory, behavioral health and home health on their transformational journey to high reliability. These activities include facilitating organizational leaders through the Oro® 2.0 high reliability maturity assessment followed by guidance in the development of customized strategic plans that cultivate a safety culture committed to learning for sustained systematic improvement. Colleen co-facilitates several leadership workshops offered by JCR and JCI and provides ongoing consulting for organizational leaders on their journey to Zero Harm.

Professional Experience


Colleen is a Registered Nurse licensed in Illinois and has earned certification as a Clinical Nurse Leader®, is a certified Maternal Newborn Nurse and a certified Obstetric and Neonatal Quality and Safety professional, Team STEPPS Master Trainer, and is a certified Patient Safety Professional with more than 30 years of health care experience. Over the last several years Colleen has focused on designing and executing innovative high reliability programs that align with and contribute to the strategic goal of reducing preventable harm. Colleen has successfully partnered with organizational leaders to design and launch high reliability programs and standardize patient safety processes across large health care systems. Recognized for collaborating with multidisciplinary leadership teams, Colleen has successfully cultivated environments of continuous learning for sustained improvement.

Colleen enjoys mentoring emerging patient safety professionals across the United States and is known for supporting the growth and development of the teams she has served.

Passionate for mentoring and educating others, Colleen serves as adjunct faculty in the MSN program at a local university.

Colleen earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Lewis University, Romeoville, IL. and a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Elmhurst University, Elmhurst, IL.
