Who within my organization should subscribe to The Source?
The Source is a practical newsletter for performance measurement/improvement professionals in all accredited health care organizations. It targets staff responsible for accreditation preparation and performance measurement, nurse leaders, and physician leaders.

What topics does The Source cover?

How often does The Source publish?
The Source is published 12 times a year by Joint Commission Resources.

Can I submit articles?
Yes. The Author Guidelines are as follows:

  1. Contact the The Source editor (630/792-5459630/792-5459 or thesource@jcrinc.com) ahead of time about your article and to get specific directions, if needed.
  2. Please submit articles that describe your own organization’s noteworthy performance measurement activities. Your experiences can be a significant resource to other The Source readers. A panel of Joint Commission experts on standards and accreditation issues will review each article that is considered suitable for publication. Notification of the editorial decision usually will be provided within one month. Authors should be available to answer the editor’s questions and approve edited copy.
  3. Write your article in an informal, first-person style directly addressing our readers (I-we/you- your). Briefly describe your organization (location, number of beds, types of patients, etc.), note any specific Joint Commission requirements this project or experience addresses, and let us know about any graphics (figures, tables) you could provide. Tips and "lessons learned" summaries make effective, helpful conclusions. Articles should be between 650 and 1,200 words, including any accompanying tables or charts. Please submit your article in a file format compatible with Microsoft Word to thesource@jcrinc.com or on CD (please fax any graphics that cannot be transmitted to us electronically and provide camera-ready copy, if available).

Step-by-Step Instructions for Activating Your Individual Online Subscription Through IngentaConnect
  1. Go to https://www.ingentaconnect.com/register/personal.
  2. On the "Personal Registration" page, please complete all of the required fields. This includes creating a unique User name and Password. Click "Register".
  3. On the next screen, "My Account", select "View Current Subscriptions".  Then, click the "Add" tab.
  4. Using either "Publication Title" (The Joint Commission: The Source) or "Publisher Name" (Joint Commission Resources), find the entry for The Joint Commission: The Source.
  5. Check the box to the left of the The Joint Commission: The Source title.
  6. In the larger box to the right of the title, enter your 8 digit Subscription Number. Your subscription number will be sent to you via e-mail within 24 hours of placing your order.
  7. Click "Add," which appears directly above the subscription number box. Your subscription activation will now be sent through Ingenta to be processed. This initial activation should take less than one hour.
