Dwayne Thomas

M.D., M.M.M.
Physician Consultant

Background

Dr. Dwayne Thomas is a Physician Consultant with Joint Commission Resources. He is a pulmonary/critical care medicine physician with more than 30 years of experience in public, private and academic medical centers.

Dr. Thomas spent much of his career in academic medicine and has extensive experience in medical staff and hospital leadership having served as a Chief Medical Officer, VP of Medical Affairs, and Chief Executive Officer. His unique experiences have resulted in firsthand experiences in the management of “real life/real time” emergency management challenges, (e.g., preparation for the first Superbowl post 9/11, Hurricanes Katrina and Maria, and a California mass shooting). Additionally, Dr. Thomas has served as a Joint Commission surveyor, which undoubtedly helps shapes his approach to the consulting process.
